Product Description Shooting high quality video is easy with the Sony® DCR-DVD650 Handycam® camcorder. The powerful 60x optical zoom lens gets you close to the action, while SteadyShotTM image stabilization reduces blur. And with Hybrid recording technology, you can capture it all directly to a DVD, or to removable Memory Stick DuoTM or Memory Stick PRO DuoTM media.
1/8" Advanced HADTM CCD Imager
A 1/8" Advanced HADTM (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD imager with 410K (effective) pixel resolution delivers stunning detail and clarity for exceptional video and still image performance.
60X Optical / 2000X Digital Zoom
Ideal for sporting events, wildlife, or distance shooting, 60X optical zoom brings you closer to the action, so you can capture extremely tight shots, even from far away. In addition, Digital Zoom Interpolation means that extreme digital zooming (up to 2000X) is clearer, with less distortion than previous types of digital zooms.
DVD-R/-RW/+RW and +R DL (Dual Layer) Compatible
The DCR-DVD650 is compatible with a variety of DVD formats (DVD-R/-RW/+RW and +R DL (Dual Layer)6, allowing you to take advantage of the ease-of-use and simplicity found in DVD media. With DVD+RW media, there is no need to finalize the disc (minimum recording required); simply remove and insert the media into a compatible DVD or Blu-ray DiscTM player.

Great Sony Camcorder April 20, 2009 K. Berthold (Texas) 64 out of 66 found this review helpful
I just bought this camera to replace my old Hitachi camcorder and this camera is awesome. The video quality is great the sound is excellent and it is Mac compatible for those who may be wondering it will work on imovie. But this camera is lightweight and the discs do not need to be finalized before you put them in a dvd player or import them to a computer, you just hook up the usb cord and import the video quick and easy. It does come with it's own software that is only compatible with windows which I dont have so I dont know if its any good.
But so far I am very pleased with this camera perfect for anyone who loves to film themselves and edit the footage. Really good buy for a great price.
Wonderful camcorder! April 30, 2009 DA-K (Norwalk, CT USA) 44 out of 48 found this review helpful
This camcorder was a present for my husband. It was a second try--I had ordered another make camcorder for him previously. He is not the most technologically-savvy guy--and it was not the product for him. The Sony Handycam was a lifesaver! It's easy to understand and easy to use. He loves it and that's the most important thing to me.
Great camera for the price August 24, 2009 Andrew Telesca (Binghamton, NY USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I found this camcorder to meet my expectations. The 60x zoom is good and the quality is very good. The digital zoom to 2000 is like all digital zooms - not great. It is easy to switch between DVD recording and Memory Stick recording. The still photo quality requires a steady hand and is not good when zooming in. The audio quality is good. Low light is good. Color quality is good. I'm satisfied with it.
sony DCR-dvd650 handycam camcorder August 26, 2009 L. Wise (Paso Robles, Ca. USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
My wife and I purchased this camcorder just before our trip to Hawaii and took it with us. We love it. It worked very well and is pretty easy to use. The set-up takes a little while and you do have to use the handbook provided to get through it. We would recommend getting a second battery as a back-up when you want to do a lot of recording at one time. It is compact and light-weight and also takes still photos. Having the disc and the flash drive in one camera is fantastic! We totally recommend buying this camcorder, and have found out that Sony makes excellent products and uses cutting edge technology. thanks, Cindy and Larry
Sony DCR/DVD 650 August 28, 2009 Allen J. Hischke (Craig, Colorado United States) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This camera does a great job of capturing video immages. While there is a lot to learn with all the functions it has, and the accessories like memmory stick can cost a bit. The qualuty of the images you get and the software supplied is fairly easy to use once you use it a few times. You can spend more and get a camera with more functions, but why would you want to?
